Taylor Swift fired back at Kanye West by slyly blasting the rapper during her Album in the Year acceptance speech for the Grammy Awards on Monday night (14Feb16).

The rapper debuted new material from his album The Life of Pablo a week ago (11Feb16) and took focus on Taylor as part of his track Famous, by which he raps, “I feel as if me and Taylor might still have intercourse, yeah I made that b**ch famous.”

In the song, Kanye references his infamous onstage interruption for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when he grabbed the microphone off Taylor as she concerned to accept the Female Video from the Year award, while he felt Beyonce deserved to win instead.

After he premiered the tune, Taylor’s representatives denied claims she approved with the song, insisting Taylor declined to market it on Twitter.com and “cautioned him about releasing a song by using these a strong misogynistic message… Taylor wasn’t made aware on the actual lyric, ‘I made that b**ch famous’.” Meanwhile, Kanye insisted he would not slam the pop star because she showed up the lyric idea herself.

And the very first time since Famous was published, Taylor spoke out concerning the war of words – and used her platform on the Grammy Awards to talk her mind.

After Taylor was given the Album from the Year trophy for my child record 1989, she told the competition, “As the 1st woman to win Album from the Year with the Grammys twice, I wanna say to every one of the young women around that there are usually people along the route who make an effort to undercut business energy or take credit to your accomplishments or maybe your fame,” creating a slight nod to Kanye’s song.

She continued, “If you only focus on the work and you also don’t let people side track you, someday once you get where you are going, you’ll look around and you also will understand that it was you and the those who love you who place you there. And that will be the ideal feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.”

In addition on the Album with the Year prize, she also won Best Pop Vocal Album for 1989, and also Best Music Video to be with her Bad Blood promo with Kendrick Lamar.
